Complexcon Album Launch

The Vision: The aesthetic objective was to materialise the raw, communal energy of a "Parking Lot Party" within the structured confines of a convention hall. Collaborating once again with Creative Director Phi Hollinger and Pharrell Williams, the narrative sought to strip away the artifice of a traditional album launch. The intent was to evoke a gritty, spontaneous urban gathering, using the physical presence of over 100 dancers - including a then-emerging Mette - to manifest a living, breathing spectacle of movement.
The Manifestation: NeonBlack delivered a lighting design that prioritised a hyper-realistic structural reality. We opened the performance by grounding the environment in the "real world," sculpting the space with such atmospheric precision that the set was indistinguishable from an actual outdoor location. This commitment to authenticity was noted by the set designer as a rare instance of lighting elevating the physical structure into a believable environment. We curated high-contrast, industrial palettes that mirrored the percussive urgency of the record, ensuring a lens-first vibrancy that framed the massive scale of the choreography without sacrificing the visceral, unpolished feel of the street.
The Result: The launch realised an atmospheric shift that redefined the convention performance format. By grounding the production in a specific, gritty narrative, we manifested an environment that felt authentic to the N.E.R.D legacy. The cultural impact was immediate, with the performance becoming a defining visual anchor for the album cycle. The result proved our ability to act as creative co-pilots on high-intensity productions where the physical energy of the performers and the structural truth of the set are the primary drivers.
